Immersive Art Classes
for Beginners and
Advanced Students

Classes at Gasper Arts Center are for both beginner and advanced students who wish to experience art at a level that is both comfortable to them as well as enjoyable.

Beginner classes

will focus on the basic techniques of the medium and let beginners move at a comfortable pace while they become familiar with the materials. Whether you have just dabbled in the arts or have never done anything art related, we have knowledgeable teachers here at Gasper Arts Center to help guide you.

Advanced classes

will focus on more advanced techniques and proficiency as well as diving deeper into concepts and narratives. Thoughts on design and composition will be introduced as well as encouragement to try new styles and range of materials. 

4-Week Pottery Wheel Intermediate Class

Includes: (4) 2 hour class sessions, 25 lbs. of clay, studio time, firing and glazing, 1 additional week, for wrap up studio time.

Elevate your pottery skills with our Intermediate Pottery Wheel Course! Designed for those who have completed at least one beginner’s wheel course and are comfortable centering at least 3 pounds of clay, this comprehensive program will refine your techniques and expand your creative abilities.

Over the course of four weeks, you will enhance your skills through hands-on projects and expert guidance. Focus areas include creating large-scale forms, stacked forms, bottleneck and closed forms, and plates and flat forms. Classes meet once a week, providing a structured environment to practice advanced techniques under the tutelage of our skilled instructors.

By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to tackle more intricate and complex pottery forms, taking your skills to the next level.

Class Schedule:

  • Week 1: Throwing large-scale forms

  • Week 2: Stacked forms

  • Week 3: Bottleneck and closed forms

  • Week 4: Plates and flat forms

  • Week 5: Wrap-up of final work and additional studio time for glazing
